Cornerstone Counseling and Consulting, Inc. offers outpatient treatment services to adolescents, adults and families in need of support for mental health and substance abuse issues. The organization operates two facilities in Oklahoma City and Stillwater, Oklahoma. Both are staffed with licensed counselors who use evidence-based therapies such as CBT, trauma-informed care and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) to address various behavioral health issues. Treatment is available through individual therapy scheduled on a weekly basis and adults have access to gender-specific Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) groups.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment begins with a comprehensive assessment to determine a proper level of care. Following the assessment, clients work with a counselor to develop an individualized treatment plan. At this time, referrals can be made for those in need of more intensive services like residential treatment or medically monitored detox. Those in need of medication management services are also provided referrals upon request.
Adults aged 18 and older receiving treatment at Cornerstone Counseling and Consulting are enrolled in gender-specific IOP groups that follow Stephanie Covington’s evidence-based recovery programs. All clients are required to attend three group therapy sessions a week for three hours at a time. Groups are scheduled on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays depending on clients’ availability.
In groups, therapists use the Helping Men Recover and Helping Women Recover guides for treating addiction to address specific psychological issues pertinent to each gender. Other topics discussed include trauma, relapse prevention, self-esteem, sexuality, relationships, spirituality, domestic violence and anger management. Adults also participate in weekly individual therapy sessions that are scheduled on a case-by-case basis. Adults interested in only individual therapy can do so as well.
On the other hand, adolescents in need of chemical dependency and mental health support are treated in an individual setting. Typically these sessions take place at least once a week for 45 minutes to an hour at a time. All adolescent clients are encouraged to incorporate family therapy into their treatment plans as well. Staff members include LPCs, LADCs, MFTs and case managers trained in evidence-based techniques.
Extras
Other treatment services include individual therapy for young children suffering from behavioral health issues such as trauma, ADD, ADHD and anxiety. Therapists approach treatment through play therapy and CBT. In addition, there are also anger management, parenting and sexual abuse support groups. Each of these is held once a week for an hour at a time. Case management services are available to those in need as well. Finally, group and individual therapy sessions are available for sex offenders as well. Aside from therapy, clients receive psycho-sexual assessments and polygraph services.
