Cope, Inc.Cope, Inc. Review

Cope, Inc. is a non-profit corporation based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It offers substance abuse treatment on an outpatient basis as well as a host of other behavioral health and community-oriented services. Clients attending the Cope, Inc. program are typically a mix of court-mandated and self-referred and the facility works in conjunction with the local criminal justice system to provide treatment that meets set requirements.

Treatment and Staff

The most comprehensive substance abuse program offered at Cope, Inc. is the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), which consists of three days of group therapy a week in sessions that last from 2 to 5 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Clients can also expect individual therapy, the frequency of which is determined during their initial evaluation, though typically these sessions are held once a week.

Typically, the IOP lasts for six weeks before clients step down to an extended outpatient program which consists of two hours of group therapy, held in one session a week. Following this, usually another six weeks, clients attend one hour of group therapy a week in a session devoted to relapse prevention. This final phase also constitutes the aftercare program at Cope, Inc. This timeline is greatly effected by a client’s progress and their court requirements and it’s not unusual for a client to move directly from the IOP to the relapse prevention sessions.

All of these sessions are led by a staff of LPCs and typically follow a CBT-model of treatment. There is no 12-step component to the treatment program at Cope, Inc. though clients can also supplement their weekly program with a variety of related groups addressing issues such as anger management, as well as parenting classes and a family program. The facility also offers separate recovery tracks to address domestic violence, sexual offenses and sponsors a fatherhood program for incarcerated, low-income, teenage new or expecting fathers. There is also a comprehensive dual diagnosis program offered at the facility, with special groups dedicated to co-occurring disorders and regular visits with an on-staff physician who offers medication management.

Cope, Inc. also provides a methadone and Suboxone program and while the facility does not offer a medical detox, it does offer what it terms an ambulatory detox, which means clients start one of these programs with initial daily physician and nursing staff visits every day during the first week of treatment.

Extras

In addition to its outpatient services for substance abuse, Cope, Inc. also offers a series of related programs, including a DUI program. This includes state-certified DUI assessments, as well as a 10-hour and 24-hour DUI school program for those needing to complete such courses as the result of a driving infraction.

In Summary

While Cope, Inc. is a relatively small organization, potential clients can still count on a solid IOP, that comes with a strong dual diagnosis program, as well as special treatment tracks for opioid users. Clients can also take advantage of the facility’s various other programs in an effort to complement and individualize their personal recovery journey.
