Constellations Recovery Review
Founded in May 2015, Constellations Recovery offers high-end sober living in woodsy Yorktown Heights, New York. Co-founder and Operations Manager Devin McCrossan offers clients a holistic approach to recovery living, along with exclusive individualized attention. McCrossan, who is in recovery, also aims to provide clients with a gamut of aftercare services to ensure their successful recovery.
Accommodations and Amenities
Constellations Recovery is a massive Victorian-style mansion, resting on a three-acre estate. Surrounded by mountains, the estate also boasts manicured lawns and a fishpond. Constellations Recovery accommodates a total of 14 clients, who are separated in gender-specific locations. For executives, there are one-bedroom apartment options. Typically, there are about seven clients at Constellations Recovery.
Residents are paired in double-occupancy or single suites, which include full-sized beds, custom furniture, closet space and spacious windows. The Master Suite includes a full-sized bed, fireplace, armchair and an attached bathroom. The residence has an indoor swimming pool, a living room with comfy couches, a baby grand piano and a flat screen TV. Amenities include a sauna, Cable TV, Wi-Fi, a gym membership, yoga, daily maid service, weekly laundry services and luxury transportation. Private entrances and security systems are available for those seeking anonymity.
A professional chef prepares organic gourmet meals and accommodates all dietary needs. Lunch entrées include roasted beet and chicken salad with organic greens, topped with walnuts and goat cheese as well as an Atlantic salmon sandwich topped with lime aioli, served with Italian pasta salad. A recent dinner included chicken picatta tenders, served with porcini mushrooms and risotto.
Rules and Regulations
Prior to admission, clients must have completed a minimum of 30 days of primary care at a drug rehab. At Constellations Recovery, there are two protocols offered—the Phase Program and the Executive Program.
The phase program recommends a 90-day length of stay, but also accommodates clients who can only commit on a month-to-month basis. The first phase, or Atlas, is comprised of a nine hour per week Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), which includes group and individual therapy. This phase also features case management, equine therapy and life coaching. Weekly attendance at five 12-step meetings, as well as the in-house meeting is mandatory. During Atlas, clients are supervised by staff around the clock. In order to progress to the next phase, clients must receive approval from their case managers.
The second stage or the Navigating phase incorporates the elements of the first phase. Additionally, clients must search for work or volunteer opportunities or pursue an academic education. The third phase, aptly named The Voyage helps clients re-enter society. It includes three hours of IOP, 12-step and house meetings, service work and participation in employment, community service or an academic curriculum.
The Executive program is customized around a working professional’s schedule. Executive clients are provided with transportation to and from work. At Constellations Recovery, clients undergo random drug testing. Those that test positive are dismissed from the premises.
Extras
Aftercare includes two weekly individual sessions and attendance at 12-step meetings. Sober companion services are provided, at additional cost.
