Conservative Care Addiction Specialists Review
Conservative Care has offices in the San Fernando Valley, in Van Nuys, and in mid-city Los Angeles. It provides a number of services for the treatment of acute and chronic pain as well as opioid addiction and dependence.
Conservative Care was founded by Dr. Jayson A. Hymes, MD, a diplomat of the American Board of Anesthesiology, a Fellow of the American College of Pain Medicine, and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine at The University Of Southern California School of Medicine. Dr. Hymes is a graduate of the University of Louisville Medical School and Harvard’s School of Public Health and has over 30 years of experience in pain and addiction treatment.
Dr. Hymes is joined in the practice by Dr. Guodong Li and Dr. Gregory Vassiley. Dr. Li is a multi-disciplinary pain management specialist who completed his residency at UCLA and was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at UCLA. Dr. Vassiley is an expert in regional anesthesia, interventional pain management and addiction. He graduated from UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine and completed his residency at UCLA’s Medical Center.
Treatment and Staff
Conservative Care’s physicians treat opioid dependence and addiction through opioid titration, the process of adjusting the dosage of the opioid through careful and methodical monitoring of their pain levels, and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) using Suboxone.
Suboxone clients first call the centers to discuss their candidacy for MAT. If they’re deemed a good fit, they then have a comprehensive initial evaluation in which the physician takes into account the length of their addiction, their support system and their recovery goals. Clients are given an initial dose prescription and must then return to the office for a follow-up evaluation, the timeframe to be determined by the current state of their health. Eventually, clients stabilize to having a monthly follow-up visit.
Conservative Care takes each client’s unique recovery goals into account and helps those who wish to taper off of Suboxone create a tapering plan. If clients wish to stay on MAT long-term, they’re not pressured to taper on any set timeline.
Extras
Conservative Care offers a number of services to help with chronic and acute pain, such as Botox injections, epidurals and a trigger point injections. It periodically offers a six-week Functional Restoration Program for sufferers of chronic pain that includes physical therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy.
