Community Reach Center Review
Community Reach Center is a Denver-area network of outpatient substance abuse and mental health treatment facilities with suburban offices throughout Adams County—in Brighton, Commerce City, Northglenn, Thornton and Westminster. Since 1957, CRC has provided services to hundreds of thousands of children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. It offers treatment for substance abuse with co-occurring disorders, using a range of evidence-based techniques.
Treatment and Staff
Initial evaluations are offered at several CRC locations from 8 am to 3 pm on Mondays or 8 am to 10 am Wednesdays, on a first-come-first-served basis.
Treatment at CRC consists of a range of techniques, including psychological and emotional support and community and educational services, in addition to medications that may help enhance recovery. The client meets with their primary therapist to set goals and develop a flexible treatment plan that is reviewed as recovery proceeds. Therapists assist clients in acquiring skills and developing strategies that identify and manage symptoms and solutions to prevent relapse and foster abstinence.
A client’s unique care team consists of a case manager, certified substance abuse counselor (CSAC), primary counselor, physician and/or psychiatrist, and nurse. Vocational, housing and criminal justice specialists are also available if needed.
Group and individual therapy can be scheduled several times a week and is reduced to once a month as the client feels more comfortable. Sessions explore the psychosocial aspects of substance abuse, including life experiences, expectations, trauma and depression, and help develop a client’s living skills. Sessions vary in length from one to three hours. CRC does not use a 12-step model.
The staff at CRC numbers over 400 professional counselors and therapists, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, psychologists, psychiatrists, CSACs and case managers. The staff-to-client ratio is one-to-five for smaller groups and one-to-12 for larger groups.
Extras
Family counseling takes place the last Wednesday of the month from 7 pm to 9 pm.
Vocational and bilingual services are offered to clients enrolled in CRC programs.
