Community Mental Health Consultants, Inc. is a community mental health and substance abuse treatment organization with locations available in Nevada, Harrison and Butler, Missouri. The CARF-accredited facility was founded in 1978 by two psychologists, Dr. Jerry Morris and Dr. Roger Wise. The programs offered are individualized, using assessments and a treatment team to decide what is best for each client. Services include Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), individual therapy and medication management. Treatment tends to include both the 12-steps and evidence-based therapies, though programs vary based on each client’s needs.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment at CMHC, clients must go through an initial assessment so that a treatment plan can be created. Dual diagnosis support is available, though detox is not.
IOP meets three to five times a week for three hour sessions each time. The program includes both individual and group therapy. Individual sessions are an hour long each and usually occur once a week, though more can be scheduled as necessary. Topics covered during group sessions include relapse prevention, 12-step principles and life skills. Evidence based practices such as CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI) are used as well. Clients are not required to attend AA/NA meetings outside of the program, though they are free to do so if they wish. The length of time spent in IOP varies by individual.
In addition to offering structured outpatient care, clients can also exclusively attend individual therapy. Clients are encouraged to develop a close relationship with their counselors during these meetings. For those suffering from mental health issues, medication management services from a psychiatrist are available as well.
The staff consists of LADCs, psychologists, nurses, Master’s-level therapists, MDs and social workers. Group sizes range from five to 15 at a time.
Extras
Community Mental Health Consultants provides mental health therapy, a sex offender treatment program, ER mental health consultations and drug court programs. In addition, there are a variety of training programs for psychology interns and post-doctoral residencies, nurse practitioners, substance abuse counselors, marital and family therapists and professional counselors. There are also corporate stress management, organizational consultation, employee development and EAP programs.

Overall, Community Mental Health Consultants creates flexible treatment plans to fit each client’s needs. Though treatment is fairly basic, evidence-based care is included as is 12-step support. The facility also boasts an impressive staff, with a range of therapists as well as medical support for those with dual diagnosis issues.
