Community Mental Health Center, Inc. (CMHC) was created in 1967 to provide affordable behavioral healthcare to the residents of Southeastern Indiana. Since then, CMHC has grown into a network of 19 facilities that offer a variety of treatment services in Dearborn, Franklin, Ohio, Ripley and Switzerland counties. It currently provides outpatient substance abuse treatment at its locations in Lawrenceburg, Batesville and Vevay.
Treatment and Staff
CMHC offers treatment at the standard outpatient level of care in all three locations. Lawrenceburg also has an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) along with a robust schedule of on-site 12-step meetings. Standard outpatient clients usually attend group therapy for 14 weeks. They may also schedule individual therapy as-needed throughout their treatment plan.
IOP clients have a typical treatment plan of 21 weeks that includes group and individual therapy. In the first phase of the IOP, clients attend three groups each week, then step down to two in the second phase and then one weekly group in the third phase. Clients have individual therapy once a week throughout their treatment plan.
Clients are strongly encouraged to attend 12-step or other peer support meetings while in treatment, and the Lawrenceburg location hosts four AA meetings and on NA meeting each week.
While CMHC’s treatment tracks are well-structured, the team emphasizes that treatment plans are customized and clients can be assured that their program will be adjusted to meet their recovery needs and goals.
The treatment team at CMHC includes MFTs, MSWs, psychologists and psychiatrists who provide medication management for mental health diagnoses. CMHC is licensed to treat co-occurring disorders, and clients can be assured of comprehensive dual diagnosis support. While CMHC does not prescribe Suboxone or methadone, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) clients under the care of local physicians are welcome to enroll in CMHC’s outpatient programs for therapeutic support.
Extras
CMHC’s counselors also treat process addictions, such as compulsive gambling. For aftercare, clients work with their counselors to create a plan that may include peer support meetings and ongoing therapy.
