Community Family Counseling Programs Review
Community Family Counseling Programs (CFCP) is a downtown Los Angeles treatment facility that offers a variety of services aimed at providing a happy and healthy family life through responsible parenting. Family services include an alcohol and drug prevention program, anger management, parenting classes and individual and group family therapy. CFCP provides the necessary tools for parents to become happier and more informed and thus offer a safer and healthier home life for their children.
Treatment and Staff
There are many elements to these treatment programs with the underlying theme of children’s safety and wellbeing. The family services have five fundamental values, which are respect, responsibility, honesty, communication and commitment. These programs are goal oriented and train clients to recognize their destructive behaviors, whether that’s with their anger, or use of drugs and alcohol, and provides alternative methods for communication and balance in the household. This is offered through stress management skills training and working on improved communication.
The addiction program emphasizes that clients should recognize how their chemical dependency has affected their physiological, mental and social state through a variety of exercises that are facilitated during both group and individual therapy. There are also specialty programs for teens who are struggling with addiction as well. The teen program offers trauma-informed care and treats those who have self harm tendencies, have dropped out of high school, have displayed violent behaviors or have attempted suicide. These are educational based tracks that are often referred by LA County due to recorded child abuse or neglect. These treatments integrate pragmatic reality focused approaches and rely on positive reinforcement techniques.
There are evidence-based approaches during therapy, like CBT, and trauma focused treatments. Those in the chemical dependency track are encouraged to attend frequent 12-step meetings within the community as well as an extra layer of support. Therapy options also include parent-child sessions that may utilize play or recreational methods. There are also relapse prevention classes and psychoeducation with focus on sexual and child abuse, and domestic violence classes.
The staff includes several Master’s-level counselors and LMFTs.

Family and couples therapy sessions are included in treatment. Additionally every program is available in both Spanish and English.
