Community Counseling Center of Southern NevadaCommunity Counseling Center of Southern Nevada Review

Ronald Lawrence, director of Community Counseling Center of Southern Nevada, founded the facility in 1990 with a mission to serve individuals in need of treatment for substance abuse and mental health and those diagnosed with HIV. This non-profit facility provides care for residents of southern Nevada through outpatient, Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and aftercare programs, offering a supportive and nurturing treatment environment for adult men and women.

Treatment and Staff

Potential clients of CCC have an initial assessment with a member of the counseling staff that determines which therapist and level of the program each individual needs. The intake process generally lasts two hours and is highly confidential. At this assessment, each client is given an individualized treatment and goal plan. Time spent in each program will vary from client to client, and is determined by the assigned therapist and individual at the beginning of treatment.

IOP requires clients to attend group and individual therapy between three and five times a week for an hour at a time. After IOP is completed, clients can step down to the once-a-week outpatient program, consisting of one to two group therapy meetings. Groups vary in size, but are usually between four and 10 clients at a time.

CCC uses evidence-based therapy methods to treat its clients including CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and EMDR. Clients with co-occurring conditions meet with an on-site psychiatrist monthly if any medication management is required in addition to group and individual sessions. The facility uses education as a large part of treatment, offering coping skills and relapse prevention classes. If needed, CCC can provide outside resources for additional classes or therapy.

A substance abuse clinical director, medical director and psychiatrist oversee the large counseling staff. Every staff member is experienced with dual diagnosis treatment and addiction. The facility’s founder is a MFT and LADC.

Extras

CCC provides counseling for family members of clients who want to participate in the recovery process. A specialized mental health and substance abuse group for pregnant and postpartum women is also available.

An aftercare program is in place for those who have completed either the IOP or outpatient programs and would like to continue with counseling. This program meets once a week for an hour.

Special education and programs are offered to those diagnosed with HIV. Weekly support groups are free to clients and members of the public. They discuss HIV prevention education and care, as well as providing free testing.

In Summary

Community Counseling Center of Southern Nevada covers all the bases for those in need of substance abuse treatment, offering a warm and inviting place to get the best outpatient care. Staff members are very accommodating and supportive throughout the process and after the programs are completed. With so many different groups and classes, CCC is truly an affordable asset to the residents of southern Nevada.
