Communicare Haven House Review
Communicare Haven House is a co-ed residential alcohol and drug abuse treatment center in Oxford, Mississippi specializing in dual diagnosis support. Haven House opened its doors on July 1st, 1978 and received its first residential client August 1st of the same year. Haven House now incorporates holistic and evidence-based methods and hosts on-site 12-step meetings.
A stay at Haven House lasts 30 days and transitional living services are available for up to six months after for clients who have completed primary care.
Accommodations and Food
Clients are accommodated in the Communicare Center, a large modern facility with administrative offices on the ground and first floors and housing on the second and third floors. Haven House sleeps 48 residents with two clients sharing each dorm-style suite. Bathrooms are shared between two suites. Cost of stay includes three meals a day, with additional snacks available if clients get hungry in between meetings.
Treatment and Staff
Haven House runs group therapy throughout the day between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm. Clients attend at a frequency determined by their individualized treatment plans and meet with their therapist for individual therapy once a week. Two on-site AA/NA meetings are available daily at 6 pm and again at 7 pm, each lasting around 60 to 90 minutes.
Graduation ceremonies for clients who complete the Haven House program take place at 4 pm followed by dinner at 5 pm. After 12-step meetings, clients may enjoy some leisure time. Haven House is more laid back on weekends; only two group sessions run during the day and one AA/NA meeting at night.
Haven House employs four MA level therapists and a psychiatric nurse practitioner who performs all evaluations. A psychiatrist comes in a couple of times a week to work with clients who need his level of care.
An Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is available for clients to step down to following primary treatment.
Extras
Yoga, meditation, nature, art and music therapy are all available for clients who wish to partake.
