The Basics

Based in Manhattan and located directly across the street from Central Park, Columbus Park has been offering outpatient-based treatment for eating disorders for over a decade. With a highly structured program that includes long-term care, the facility offers treatment for anorexia and related disorders, binge eating disorders and bulimia, and a child and adolescent eating disorder program.

Treatment and Staff

The typical program length at Columbus Park is either 20 or 40 weeks, depending on a client’s needs. The facility offers an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), which consists of individual and group therapy. Those participating in the IOP can expect to attend the facility three hours a day for up to six days a week, depending on their needs. The standard outpatient program also offers a combination of these services, at a scaled back schedule. Typically, clients in the IOP transition to a the standard outpatient program, as they progress.  There is also a special program for adolescents tailored to their specific needs.

Columbus Park offers a multitude of modern treatment strategies, utilizing the latest in therapeutic models. Clients can expect a CBT and DBT influenced program, with the option to incorporate ACT strategies and a comprehensive family program into their treatment.  Clients should expect homework and weekly weigh-ins in conjunction with these sessions.

The staff is comprised of multiple LCSWs, as well as LMSWs and an on-staff physician.

In addition to a range of therapeutic models, Columbus Park also offers a supported dining program, in both group and one-on-one settings to address struggles that arise surrounding meal time. The program features trips to local restaurants, grocery shopping support as well as meal selection sessions.
