vancouver washingtonColumbia Treatment Services Review

Based in Vancouver, Washington, Columbia Treatment Services is a family-owned and operated business which provides outpatient substance abuse services, including an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Certified by the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, Columbia Treatment Services has provided alcohol and drug recovery services since 1999.

Treatment and Staff

A client’s journey through Columbia Treatment Services begins with an initial evaluation or, since many come to the facility as the result of a court mandate, a consultation to make sure the necessary legal requirements of treatment can be met. There are no detox services offered and clients are usually referred to the nearby Lifeline Connections

Columbia Treatment Services’ IOP typically lasts four to 12 weeks and is comprised of group and individual therapy sessions. Clients attend four group sessions a week, all of which are separated by gender. Groups are available Mondays through Thursdays either in the mornings from 10 am to noon or in the evenings from 6 to 8 pm. Individual counseling sessions with an LADC take place at least once a month.

The programs at Columbia Treatment Services emphasize the 12 steps, and require participation in local AA or NA groups. Members of these fellowships often serve as guest speakers at group sessions. While family therapy sessions are available when necessary, dual diagnosis support is not. After clients complete IOP, they typically transition to a standard outpatient program which lasts between 12 and 26 weeks. This phase typically consists of one group session a week and individual sessions when needed.

Columbia Treatment Services also offers an aftercare program, which consists of one to two group therapy sessions a week for three to six months. For those who have already completed a primary treatment program and relapsed in the past, Columbia Treatment Services offers a special relapse prevention track as part of their outpatient services.

Extras

Because many clients attend treatment as the result of a court order, Columbia Treatment Services has a host of programs to address these specific needs. There is a full Deferred Prosecution treatment program, an Alcohol/Drug Information School for early intervention classes and a DUI Victim Impact Panel, a program which introduces clients to people whose lives have been altered by an impaired driver. Columbia Treatment Services also provides drug screens, urinalysis and youth evaluations as well.

Besides providing gender-specific group therapy sessions, Columbia Treatment Services also offers all of their treatment programs in Spanish including assessments, group and individual therapy, consultations, family therapy and the DUI Victim Impact Panel. Additionally, Columbia Treatment Services also offers evaluations for Russian-speaking clients.

In Summary

Though a relatively small operation, the Columbia Treatment Services facility offers great services for substance abuse recovery. IOP is comprehensive and there are further long-term options for continuing care once clients have completed this initial phase. Furthermore, Columbia Treatment Services offers bilingual and gender-specific services. Though they specialize more in providing court-mandated treatment, Columbia Treatment Services is a reliable facility for self-referring clients in Washington State as well.
