Cloud Peak Counseling Center Review
Cloud Peak Counseling Center (CPCC) is a mental health and substance abuse treatment center located in Worland, a small town in northern Wyoming at the foot of the Big Horn Mountains. The facility has scenic views and wilderness as its playground—camping, fishing, hiking and many more outdoor activities are easily accessible. Services offered at CPCC include Intensive Outpatient (IOP) treatment, standard outpatient care and a continuing care program.
Treatment and Staff
Cloud Peak Counseling Center has therapists on call 24/7. Clients who make initial contact must first make an appointment to schedule an assessment with one of the therapists on staff. Clients are evaluated at intake for a fee of $150, although staff are willing to work with clients on this policy in extenuating circumstances.
A therapist works with the client to determine dates, times, frequency and length of treatment for IOP or outpatient therapy. The length of the program is based on individual needs and an individualized treatment plan. Ninety days is a recommended length of treatment time.
IOP is a nine-hour per week program at CPCC. Eight hours are devoted to group counseling and one hour to individual counseling. Groups meet three days a week. The IOP program addresses understanding addiction and addictive behaviors, medication information, nutrition and fitness, community support and recovery groups, assistance with educational/vocational activities and relapse prevention. Clients with co-occurring disorders may also receive treatment that includes medication management and psychiatric services.
Individual sessions allow clients in the early stages of chemical abuse and dependency to work on issues with a clinically-trained professional. Family members or significant others also benefit from this service. Group counseling is strongly recommended for clients who require support and intervention.
Step-down groups, like the Thinking Errors group, supplement IOP and are available two days a week for one hour each. Staff assist clients in figuring out which recovery and/or support groups, including 12-step groups, will most benefit them as they continue treatment.
There are eight therapists at CPCC and one psychologist is also on staff.
Extras
Staff provide case management, vocational counseling, consultation and discharge/transition plan services to clients. The aftercare program is an ongoing group that meets for 90 minutes each week and focuses on relapse prevention and other topics relevant to recovery.
Clients with DUI/DWI offenses are eligible for the programs at CPCC.
