Clinton Counseling Center Review
Clinton Counseling Center provides outpatient substance abuse treatment services in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. Located 20 miles north of Detroit, this CARF accredited facility is a private nonprofit that has been serving the residents of Macomb County since 1984.
Treatment and Staff
Prior to admission, a comprehensive assessment with a counselor is completed. Those requiring medication for co-occurring disorders also meet with a psychiatrist. After the evaluation, new clients receive individualized treatment plans that include individual therapy, medication management (if appropriate) and group therapy. Those who require inpatient treatment or detox are referred to other facilities in the area.
The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) usually lasts eight months. The co-ed IOP meets in a group format from 10 am to 1 pm, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Gender-specific and evening groups are provided as well. Using an evidence-based approach, specifically CBT, group topics include an introduction to the 12 steps, relapse prevention, cognitive restructuring and the effects of drugs and alcohol.
The outpatient track is similar to the IOP, but with a less time-intensive curriculum, meeting just once a week for group. Clinton Counseling Center also offers a specialized dual diagnosis program that includes weekly group therapy, family therapy, individual therapy, case management and medication supervision. Group topics parallel those offered in IOP, with an added focus on co-occurring disorders. Groups tend to average between six and 10 clients per session.
Clinton Counseling Center also provides outpatient support for children and adolescents. The youth program is similar to the adult track, with the addition of required family involvement.
Staff includes Master’s-levels therapists, psychiatrists and case managers with at least a Bachelor’s-level degree in a mental health field.
