The Basics
The Clinic for Mental Health and Wellness (CMHW) is located in Laramie, Wyoming and offers outpatient substance abuse and co-occurring disorder programs for adolescents and adults. Treatment implements group and individual therapy, as well as holistic approaches, pyschoeducation and medication management.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment, clients undergo an in-depth evaluation with a counselor that lasts about 90 minutes; after which, the therapist makes a program recommendation. For adolescents, the substance abuse programs are family oriented and educational, offering methods for improving communication and stress management through specialized groups and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Adults are also offered several different groups throughout the week, in addition to an IOP schedule of three days a week of treatment. Individual sessions are scheduled upon request.
Treatment plans are individualized and use evidence-based methods such as CBT and DBT, as well as trauma-informed therapy and EMDR for trauma work. Treatment also focuses on relapse prevention techniques, anger management and co-parenting practices. Holistic methods include mindfulness and relaxation work, therapeutic yoga and grief counseling. This facility is also able to administer medication for dual diagnosis support through a psychiatric RN.
While the 12 steps are not incorporated into treatment, CMHW does encourage clients to seek additional support through AA/NA meetings in the community.
The staff consists of LSWs, LPCs, psychologists and a psychiatric RN.
Extras
Additional services include family and couples counseling, custody and divorce mediation, as well as an eight-hour class for clients who have been convicted of a DU, which is offered several times throughout the year.
