Clearview Recovery, Inc. is a residential treatment facility in Prairie City, Iowa catering to women struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders, with space for their children as well. The facility has been around since 2005 and offers goal-oriented, individualized treatment combining the 12 steps and evidence- based methods with both group and individual therapy.
Accommodations and Food
The Clearview facility is in a one story brick building accommodating up to 21 residents at once. Women are housed in private bedrooms furnished with a double beds, dressers, closets and TVs (though only some rooms have cable). For those who enter treatment with their children, the rooms also come with cribs or small beds as well. Full bathrooms are shared between rooms, each with a tub and shower.
Clearview is situated in a serene, rural campus with walking paths throughout the property giving residents the opportunity to enjoy outdoor exercise. Personal devices like laptops, cell phones and tablets are not permitted during treatment, though after initial orientation clients are allowed one 15 minute phone call per day. The facility provides most necessities for clients including toiletries, bedding and towels as well as kitchen and cleaning supplies, utensils and laundry facilities. Residents should bring their own pillows and alarm clocks.
Staff members bring two clients with them on weekly food runs, typically shopping for food requests on top of basic necessities. While the staff are in charge of designing healthy menus, residents prepare all meals for themselves and their children and often take turns making community meals to share together. Additionally, clients occasionally take group outings to movies or museums in the spirit of fellowship.
Treatment and Staff
Programs at Clearview are individualized with clients staying anywhere from six to 18 months, though duration of treatment varies. The facility’s main objective is to arm all residents with education and skills training in addition to therapy and 12-step support. The goal-oriented group therapy sessions focus on building each client’s self-esteem. Other topics include anger management, parenting and coping skills.
Residents participate in frequent AA meetings in addition to individual and group therapy. Therapy methods include CBT, EMDR and Motivational Interviewing (MI). The staff at Clearview are a combination of caseworkers, CADCs, LMFTs, 24-hour staff and child care workers.
Extras
Clients are permitted visitors one of the weekends during their stay. As they progress through treatment, overnight and weekend passes may also be issued. There is generally a one- to two-week waiting period to enroll at Clearview.
