Located in Prescott, Arizona, Clean Adventures is a unique, physically intensive recovery program offering treatment to men ages 18 years and up. The facility is state-licensed and accredited by the Joint Commission and offers extended lengths of stay in sober living apartments while residents attend a concurrent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).
Accommodations and Amenities
With a total of 32 beds available, clients stay in apartments with one other roommate (though private apartments may be available in rare cases). Generally speaking, rooms come equipped twin or full beds, dressers and closet space. Each unit comes with its own bathroom, kitchen and common area with large flatscreen TV and cable. The complex also has on-site laundry, a business center with a computer and printer and residents are granted temporary gym memberships throughout their stay. All clients are expected to cook and prepare their own meals.
The apartments are separate but walking distance from the treatment facility, so residents generally walk or commute to therapy on their own.
Rules and Regulations
The Clean Adventures program generally lasts for six months though clients can attend with a minimum three-month commitment. Clients attend 10 hours of group therapy and one individual session a week. Treatment employs evidence-based practices, such as CBT and REBT, but it also hosts holistic groups that address spirituality and guided meditation. Other groups cover AA/NA-related recovery topics, relapse prevention and life skills clients must also attend daily 12-step meetings. Clean Adventures is not equipped to treat clients with a dual diagnosis.
Perhaps the defining aspect of the program at Clean Adventures is its extensive experiential therapy, including a ROPES course, hiking trips and other physical activities. In addition to treatment, clients must also obey basic house behavioral contracts and submit to mandatory, weekly drug tests.
The staff at Clean Adventures consists of Master’s-level, state-certified drug and alcohol counselors and house managers.
Extras
Clean Adventures also offers a family program that consists of two eight-hour days with communication skills workshops, educational sessions, networking and experiential therapy. As an added bonus, the program features more extensive group excursions depending on the season—these include skiing trips in winter, canyon and rafting trips in spring and summer and hiking excursions in the fall.

Overall, Clean Adventures is a comprehensive program that provides a multi-faceted attack on addictive behaviors. All residents attend 12-step meetings as well as evidence-based and holistic sessions, supplemented by plenty of outdoor physical activity. While it does require a longer commitment than other programs of its kind, Clean Adventures is an all-inclusive treatment option worth consideration.
