Located in Glastonbury, Connecticut, Clayton House is a co-ed sober living home founded in 1985. As an affiliate of Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center’s Alcohol and Drug Recovery Centers (ADRC), the facility provides support for those in early recovery from addiction and co-occurring disorders.

Accommodations and Amenities

Clayton House has a total of 15 beds in gender-specific bedrooms shared between two to three residents. Each room has twin beds, dressers and closet space. The home features common living areas with TV, on-site laundry, a dining room and a full kitchen. Residents are expected to cook and prepare their own meals.

Rules and Regulations

All residents are required to secure and maintain full-time employment and attend the facility’s evening programming. These sessions consist of group and individual therapy where relapse prevention, educational topics, gender-specific issues, spirituality, grief and other recovery-related topics are discussed. Clients must also attend regular 12-step meetings, keep up with basic household chores, submit to regular drug testing and remain in good standing with the other residents and staff. Fifteen percent of all resident’s weekly earnings are filtered into a joint savings account with Clayton House, which is returned to the client upon graduation. Residents can remain in the program for up to six months.

The support staff at the facility includes Master’s-level LPCs and CACs.

Extras

The facility’s affiliation with Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center allows its clients easy access to further outpatient and aftercare services. Its parent company also provides detox and inpatient care, if needed.

In Summary

Overall, Clayton House is a small facility for men and women seeking a safe environment to spend the early months of their sobriety. Aside from working a full-time job, all clients also attend regular 12-step meetings and on-site therapy groups covering an array of addiction-related issues.
