Clay Behavioral Health Center Review

For over 20 years, Clay Behavioral Health Center has provided outpatient substance abuse treatment and dual diagnosis support in the Jacksonville, Florida area. The rehab operates three locations—Middleburg, Green Cove Springs and Keystone Heights. They subscribe to the belief that addiction is a disease, not a moral deficiency, and its progression can be stopped with appropriate treatment.

Treatment and Staff

Those who seek treatment at CBHC receive complete substance abuse assessments that are used to create individualized treatment plans. Clients who require detox are provided with referrals to a local hospital. The dual diagnosis program caters to those with co-occurring disorders and medication management is available.

An outpatient counseling program is provided for adults suffering from chemical dependency. Treatment uses the solution-focused model, as well as the 12 steps, and includes three hours a week of group therapy and an hour of individual therapy. Group topics include goal setting, relapse prevention and problem solving. Groups vary in size as the rehab accommodates a large number of clients. Treatment length varies per client needs and clients are required to attend at least one outside AA/NA meeting per week.

The children’s substance abuse program—for those 18 and younger—provides various types of care, including intervention services, outpatient treatment and a specialized Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). The outpatient program includes individual therapy and family therapy according to the needs of each client. IOP has a set schedule which entails six to eight hours a week of individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy and school-based services. Therapists work closely with distressed children and their families, providing support in an office setting, the home or at school, depending on the situation.

The adult substance abuse department staff includes a clinical manager, a clinical coordinator, a case manager and six full-time therapists. The children’s substance abuse department staff includes Master’s-level clinicians who are licensed or certified in the treatment of addiction and/or mental health disorders.

Extras

The Adult Crisis Alternative Program provides short-term inpatient care to those suffering from a mental health crisis. Average length of stay is between three and five days. The organization offers this program as an alternative to psychiatric hospitalization.

Clay Behavioral Health works with local drug court and veterans court systems to break the cycle of substance use, addiction and crime by offering a diversion from incarceration in eligible cases.

The Clay Way, a collaboration between CBHC and two nonprofits in Orange Park, Florida, provides counseling and support to families and youngsters involved in the juvenile court system.

In Summary

Clay Behavioral Health Center offers a plethora of dual diagnosis support and substance abuse treatment services at an affordable cost. For clients recently discharged from an inpatient facility or for those who can’t go to rehab due to busy schedules, this rehab might be the perfect fit.
