Located about 50 miles northwest of Phoenix, the Claudia Black Young Adult Center in Wickenburg, Arizona provides specialized residential addiction treatment for young adults between 18 and 26. Treatment and Staff
Clients of the Claudia Black Young Adult Center have access to an on-site detox, with the medical staff of The Meadows to supervise. Upon completion, clients remain at Claudia Black Young Adult Center for an intensive 45 days where treatment offers a balance of evidence-based practices, 12-step traditionalism and new-age alternatives.
Clients attend daily AA or NA meetings on site along with meditation and community meetings. Individual therapy utilizes CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and EMDR within the Stages of Change model. Additionally, clients have group therapy three times a day on weekdays, which aims to develop healthy communication skills and identify triggers. Anger management, relapse prevention techniques and life skills training encourages independence. Daily group activities, yoga and nutritional coaching round out treatment.
Those with co-occurring disorders benefit from a dedicated team of specialists. Though medication management is utilized if needed, the program prefers to use medicine as a single component in a larger, holistic treatment plan. The facility is operated by a multi-disciplinary treatment team, which includes a psychiatrist, medical doctor, Master’s Level licensed therapists and 24-hour nursing staff.
Extras
For residents, contact with family members is limited except during the structured family program. This week-long track offers opportunities for families to come together in the recovery process. Those coming for family week are responsible for their own travel arrangements, lodging and meals.
