Located in Hanover, a small town in Pennsylvania’s bucolic Dutch Country, Clarity Way offers a quiet setting, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. As a part of the Elements Behavioral Health private treatment company, this facility aims to provide a non-12-step, holistic treatment program that makes clients feel at home, rather then in an institution or hospital. With a maximum of 15 residents at a time, those who attend Clarity Way are able to receive optimal individual attention as well as anonymity.
Accommodations and Food
Residents have the advantage of living in one of the beautiful country homes, choosing between a room shared with another client or a private suite. Bedrooms include hardwood floors, full beds, large dressers and cozy armchairs for reading. The other areas of the houses are as enjoyable as the bedrooms, with modern kitchens and living rooms featuring brick fireplaces and leather couches. When it comes to technology, residents have access to the on-site computer room as well as complimentary WiFi throughout the property. While many rehabs ban personal cellphones and laptops, Clarity Way likes to keep clients as comfortable as possible, allowing the use of these personal items during free time.
Meals are an enjoyable experience at Clarity Way, as a professional chef prepares food with residents’ likes and dislikes in mind. Fresh, non-processed meals are served daily, providing energy and nutrients to the recovering body. Meals typically include organic fruits and veggies, grass-fed meats and fresh fish. Clients also have access to stocked kitchens in the houses in case they wish snack in between designated meal times.
Clarity Way offers the world when it comes to amenities. The 15-acre property has a fully equipped fitness center, a state-of-the-art recording studio, a basketball and tennis court, a sauna, heated pool, ping pong, a pool table and a salon.
Treatment and Staff
Clarity Way is all about having a unique, tailored experience. Through the guidance of physicians, nurses, psychiatrists, therapists and holistic practitioners, clients embark on an individualized journey that can be from anywhere between two weeks and 90 days. For clients who need detox, the facility offers a medically monitored on-site detox center.
While Clarity Way follows a mostly holistic way of treating addiction, they do offer experiential therapies such as CBT and neurofeedback in addition to an astounding 10 to 15 individual therapy sessions per week. On the holistic side of things, therapies such as equine therapy, art therapy, yoga, nutrition, life coaching, nutrition, massage, acupuncture and Pilates are offered, taking the place of the array of group therapies and 12-step meetings provided by more traditional rehabs.
While AA and NA meetings are not offered, clients have the option of attending off-site SMART recovery meetings. Although family involvement is typically a regular part of recovery during residential treatment, it is up to the resident whether or not they wish to involve family members in the recovery process.
A typical day at Clarity Way begins at 7:30 am with breakfast followed by individual sessions/free time from 8:15 am to 11:15 am. From 11:15 am to 12 pm, clients participate in a therapeutic group followed by lunch. From 1 to 2 pm, clients have fitness group followed by another individual session from 2 to 4 pm. From 4 to 5 pm, clients participate in an educational group followed by dinner from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Following dinner, clients can participate in both on-site and off-site activities such as recreation or SMART recovery meetings.
Extras
While all amenities and services are included in the monthly cost, the private suite will cost an additional $5,000 per month. Those who opt to do the medically monitored detox will need to spend an additional $11,500.
