CLARITY Outpatient Program Review
CLARITY Outpatient Program was founded in 1971 in Nashville, Tennessee. TriStar Parthenon Pavilion, a large private psychiatric hospital facility in Tennessee, operates the CLARITY program. CLARITY provides outpatient substance abuse treatment services to adult men and women in the Nashville and mid-Tennessee area.
Treatment and Staff
The intake process at CLARITY begins with a phone assessment, then individuals meet with a counselor in-person to discuss their specific treatment needs and whether CLARITY is a good fit for them. Men and women who are undergoing withdrawal symptoms are referred to Parthenon Pavilion’s detox program.
CLARITY’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) lasts four to five weeks depending on the needs of the client. During this time, clients meet Mondays through Fridays for group therapy from nine am to noon and again from one to four pm. The group sizes are generally small and consist of eight to 11 clients. Counselors use CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Acceptance-Commitment Therapy (ACT) in the groups. CLARITY also focuses on relapse prevention, dealing with anxiety, trauma and depression. Counselors aim to provide clients with the coping and life skills to transition successfully out of the program and into a sustainable life of recovery.
CLARITY is not 12-step based, but counselors do highly recommend clients attend outside AA/NA meetings and find a sponsor. The organization is equipped to provide dual diagnosis support and has a psychiatrist on staff who meets with clients with potential co-occurring disorders and also offers medication management to clients who need it. The counselors at CLARITY are a mixture of LADCs, LPCs and LCSWs.

Upon client request only, CLARITY also offers individual family sessions with the client, counselor and their family members.
