Clackamas County Behavioral HealthClackamas County Behavioral Health Review

Clackamas County Behavioral Health is a collection of various facilities that provide addiction and mental health care for the residents of Clackamas County, Oregon. Although all the clinics only offer outpatient treatment, they have a wide variety of services at several locations.

Treatment and Staff

Addiction treatment at Clackamas Behavioral Health is  strictly evidence-based (CBT) and eschews the 12-step AA/NA model. Every clinic offers a standard menu of services: consultation and medical evaluation, individual therapy, group therapy, skills training and crisis response. Group topics include relapse prevention, trauma and coping skills. Group sizes are kept small, between 10 to 15 clients, and the length and intensity of treatment depends on the individual’s needs. While detox is not available, referrals to an outside facility are made upon request.

The Centerstone clinic southeast of downtown Portland focuses on crisis services, involuntary commitments, jail diversion and parole obligations. The Hilltop Behavioral Health Center and Stewart Behavioral Health (both in Oregon City) and the Sandy Health Center in Sandy focus solely on behavioral health, providing treatment for court-mandated and volunteer clients. The Beavercreek Health Center in Oregon City, the Gladstone Heath Center in Gladstone and the Sunnyside Health Center in Clackamas offer a full medical array, allows for more dual diagnosis care.

A typical program is six months, starting with two individual and four group sessions a week. All the clinics require urine and breathalyzer testing as part of the recovery program.

The staff varies depending on the location but may include psychiatrists, therapists, counselors and doctors.
