Circle Treatment Center Review
Circle Treatment Center is a small outpatient-only facility in suburban Gaithersburg, Maryland that stresses maintaining a client’s normal place in their community and employment while recovering from drug and alcohol abuse and addiction. Psychologist Dr. Rosalind Goldfarb and her team have been providing Intensive Outpatient (IOP) services since 1985 in an unassuming clinic. They treat addiction as a disease, using the 12-step model to promote long-lasting sobriety.
Treatment and Staff
The first step at Circle Treatment is a full assessment during which a counselor charts a recovery path individualized to the client’s needs as well as outside world commitments. They do not offer medical detox.
The IOP is structured as three meetings a week for four weeks. Clients engage in a mix of group and individual sessions, family meetings and assignments. Group topics include relapse prevention, trauma, coping skills and anger management. Clients also receive educational lectures on the addiction-as-a-disease model and the dangers of addiction. There is a reevaluation after the initial phase and, if progress has met goals, the client tapers down to one-hour weekly sessions that continue for a year.
Circle Treatment is an avid user of the 12-step recovery model. Clients get the chance to delve into program philosophies during group and are highly encouraged to attend AA/NA meetings outside of treatment.
The current staff of eight consists of psychologists, licensed counselors, consulting psychiatrists and social workers.
Extras
In conjunction with the State of Maryland, Circle Treatment offers the three-hour MVA Alcohol and Drug Education Class required for all Maryland residents with out-of-state driver’s licenses seeking a Maryland-issued license. They also work with the Montgomery County court system to provide a certified DUI/DWI program for referred offenders.
