Cielo House Review
With locations in San Jose, Moss Beach, Burlingame and Pleasanton, California, Cielo House is an expansive behavioral health organization that treats adolescents with eating disorders and co-occurring disorders like substance abuse. In addition to a range of outpatient treatment programs, the facility also provides residential treatment at its Moss Beach location. Cielo House does not offer detox.
Accommodations and Food
The Moss Beach facility has a total of six beds and clients share, gender-separated rooms with one other client. Rooms are equipped with queen beds, dresses and closet space. The house has plenty of windows throughout to let in natural light as well as shared living areas, modern decorations, a staircase leading to a local beach and a fully-equipped kitchen. Throughout their stay, residents are served three meals a day by on-staff chefs. Menus are prepared with the help of nutritionists.
Treatment and Staff
Before treatment begins, each client goes through an initial intake and assessment to help staff members develop an individualized treatment plan. While the specifics may vary, all residents attend both group and individual therapy rooted in evidence-based practices such as CBT and DBT. Groups cover 12-step recovery, nutritional counseling and co-occurring disorders. Psychiatric support and medication management services are also available. Length of treatment is depends on the client’s individual need.
The staff at Cielo House consists of psychiatrists, LMFTs, doctors, RNs, dietitians and additional Master’s-level staff.
Extras
Cielo House also incorporates experiential and holistic practices into treatment; including yoga, art therapy, music therapy, equine therapy, classes on organic farming and community service opportunities. The organization also provides transitional living options at its Moss Beach and Burlingame locations. Finally, those who complete primary care can also step down to one of the facility’s outpatient tracks or receive referrals to other facilities.
