Chrysalis Women's Transitional LivingChrysalis Women’s Transitional Living Review

Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Living is a Christian faith-based sober living home that provides safe housing for women transitioning from incarceration, abusive environments or who are in recovery for addiction. Located in Boise, Idaho, Chrysalis focuses on creating a safe haven to heal and build lives upon a foundation of structure, sobriety and accountability.

Accommodations and Amenities

Chrysalis has three homes, each with 10 beds. Women typically share a dual-occupancy room with their own twin-sized bed and cabinet. Each house has several floors—each with its own fully equipped kitchen, bathrooms, computer room and living rooms with cable TV.

Residents will find a helpful network of community support through Chrysalis; job placement and training, vocational rehabilitation, work with volunteer mentors and liaising with social workers are typical outreach programs offered to help clients ready themselves for life after sober living.

Rules and Regulations

Chrysalis does not place a great emphasis on rules, rather they focus on helping their clients rebuild their lives by stopping the cycle of addiction and/or abuse. In order to ensure the safety of all clients, however, Chrysalis does enforce an early nightly 7 pm curfew, mandatory random drug and breathalyzer testing and daily chores.

As Chrysalis is a faith-based home, residents must choose a church and attend a service at least once a week as well as the in-house Bible study groups. Attendance of at least one 12-step meeting per week is mandatory as is attending the house meeting. Clients may also benefit from the required weekly life-skills classes.

Chrysalis has no minimum-stay requirement, and all residents are welcome to stay for as long as they wish.

Extras

Annual golf tournaments and bowl-a-thons are hosted by Chrysalis with the aim to cultivate fellowship as well as to raise funds for this non-profit recovery organization.

In Summary

Chrysalis is a faith-based program which encourages women in recovery to use the 12-step model. Clients with a history of relapse or who are looking for a strict and structured sober living house may find Chrysalis is not the best fit but otherwise it is an affordable and safe home where women in crisis are given the support to start over.
