Christian Discipleship Center Review
Based out of Cortez, Colorado, Christian Discipleship Center is a Christian-based facility for Native American men and women struggling with addiction. The organization is non-clinical and non-medical and is focused more on renewing clients’ relationships with their own spirituality. Its flagship program is a 90-day residential treatment plan.
Accommodations and Food
The location itself is a wooded compound in the country with a total of seven beds available in private and semi-private rooms. Each comes with twin beds, dressers, a desk, an armoir, carpeted floors and basic decorations. Other amenities include an on-site gym with weights and exercise machines, a computer room, a game room with ping pong and a pool table, a basketball court, a lounge area with TV and a piano and a library. In addition to the compound itself, the facility is also situated on five acres of land, which residents can explore at their leisure. Food is provided, and residents learn basic nutrition and cooking skills throughout their stay. They help to prepare meals for themselves and the whole facility.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning a program, clients go through an initial intake assessment to determine their past use and to get them oriented to the program. Detox is not available on-site and those in need should seek necessary medical care before enrolling. As a Bible-based teaching program, the facility does not adhere to 12-step teachings or to a regimen of evidence-based care. Instead, residents attend regular group and individual sessions with Christian counselors who serve as life coaches and encourage them to develop a relationship with God. Groups include Biblical classes, life skills workshops and vocational classes to help clients prepare for the outside world. Dual diagnosis support is not available.
The staff at Christian Discipleship Center consists of pastors, counselors and life coaches.

The organization also has many partnerships with nearby churches to which residents can be referred to upon completing the program. Because the program is designed for Native American clients, the treatment offered is also culturally-minded.
In Summary
Overall, Christian Discipleship Center is a fairly niche option that exclusively addresses the needs of Christian Native Americans. Treatment plans do not include clinical or medical care or even the 12 steps, instead focusing on a dedicated, religious approach to recovery. While this may not be an ideal fit for everyone, Christians in the area may find a good fit in this program.
