Choices Rehab Centres represents a large number of treatment facilities throughout the UK and Wales. They offer services like detox, inpatient and extended aftercare services for men and women. Depending on the facility, programming offers both 12-step and non 12-step support, complementary and holistic therapies and evidence-based protocols. Choices always offers affordable treatment options.
Accommodations and Food
There are 19 treatment facilities through Choices. Some of these locations are gender specific, and all offer comfortable, home-like accommodations. For the facilities that are co-ed, generally the men and women are separated on different floors of the residence. The homes provide basic amenities, furnished bedrooms, linens, cooking utensils, cleaning supplies and more. Common spaces within the centers are lounges or sitting rooms, kitchens and dining rooms. Some of the facilities are close to beaches, or set within a countryside or city. Many of the facilities feature convenient access to train stations.
The food is supplied to clients, and they eat their meals together three times a day. Most of the programs include a cooking program as part of their life skills training, so often clients prepare some of the meals together for the community. Choices does accommodate those with specific dietary restrictions. This includes gluten free, vegetarian, Kosher, Halal, nut free and other requirements.
Treatment and Staff
About half of Choices treatment facilities offer a medical detox program along with a residential track. Detox services are generally for adults 18 and over, though there are some facilities that cater to young clients starting at age 16.
Program lengths differ per facility. They run between four weeks and several months. Choices recommends that clients stay in treatment for 12 weeks on average, however it is made clear that every client is on their own treatment schedule. As a result, programs run according to their needs.
Treatment incorporates a variety of approaches during both group and individual therapy. Clinicians utilize CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI), trauma-informed care, EMDR, and mindfulness. Other elements to treatment include psychoeducation, vocational training, life skills, and therapeutic activities. Some of the longer term facilities offer group outings to encourage social interaction. As a result, clients can anticipate activities such as hiking, biking, fishing, or visiting museums.
Some of Choices facilities do not base their programming on the 12-step philosophies. Still, even though they don’t facilitate AA and NA on site, they still encourage clients to seek out a support community after treatment.
Choices staff members include medical personnel, addiction counselors, and support staff.
Some of the complementary therapies and activities are Tai Chi, yoga, gardening, arts and crafts, group exercise and going to the gym.
Choices facilities offer extensive aftercare programming. This can mean an extended treatment program that meets during the day, or placement into a sober living facility.
In summation, Choices Rehab Centres operates several well established and respected treatment facilities throughout the UK. The protocols are highly successful. Above all, clients gain a lot of helpful knowledge and add to their skill sets. For individualized care that is comprehensive, Choices is a great avenue to take.
