With a network of facilities in Tishomingo, Oklahoma—the historic capitol of the Chickasaw Nation—the CTHC offers residential treatment programs for both adults and adolescents which combine traditional therapy utilizing evidence-based methods and the 12-step philosophy.
Accommodations and Food
Accommodations for both the adult and the adolescent programs are arranged in facilities with dormitory style sleeping quarters and separate buildings for treatment.
The adolescent program has 24 beds, while the adult program has 20. All residents share a simply-furnished double-occupancy room with one other client. Residents also share bathrooms, laundry facilities, living rooms and outdoor space for recreation. Communal meals are served three times a day in a cafeteria setting with new menus every day. Food is traditional American-fare.
Treatment and Staff
Clients are initially evaluated to determine appropriate treatment and an individualized plan is devised. Treatment for both adult and adolescent programs are based on the 12-steps. Clients attend group therapy twice a day for three hours as well as an educational lecture of some kind with the adolescent program focuses on youth-oriented practices and prevention methods. Individual counseling is also incorporated with clients typically meeting with their therapist once or twice a week.
Staff utilize CBT methodology. Family therapy is also heavily integrated into the adolescent program with family members participating in both the educational and treatment process.
The staff at CTHC consists of psychiatrists, LPCs and CADCs.
