Chateau Recovery is located in the Wasatch Mountain range and boasts impressive views of the natural environment. With a holistic approach to recovery, Chateau aims to recover body, mind and spirit using a combination of evidence-based and alternative methods of treatment.
Accommodations and Food
The facility operates out of a large, sweeping home that once served as a bed and breakfast. There is space for 16 residents at a time with clients sharing double-occupancy rooms with queen beds and basic furnishings. Each room also has an attached bathroom. The house is expansive with a large central meeting room with a stone fireplace that hosts group therapy. In addition, several common rooms with large couches are arranged comfortably for socializing and relaxation. There is also a ping pong table available for recreation.
All meals are prepared by Chateau Recovery’s staff chef and clients eat together in a large formal dining room arranged with casual seating facing bay windows and mountain views.
Treatment and Staff
The average length of the Chateau Recovery program is 60 days, though clients often stay as long as 90. Days are comprised of group and individual therapy with a focus on CBT and DBT. There is a 12-step component to treatment as well, with clients attending both on and off-site meetings if they are interested. However, a key feature of the Chateau Recovery program is an emphasis on allowing clients to individualize their own program, thus, those who want to forgo 12-step recovery can do SMART Recovery instead.
In addition to these methods, Chateau Recovery also offers a variety of other treatment methods including EMDR, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). Additionally, clients can experience the benefits of art therapy, a canine training program, music therapy and experiential therapy. This attention to individualized care is a major feature of the Chateau Recovery program; residents can expect an open dialogue with their individual therapist about choosing a path that best suits them among these options.
Chateau Recovery also offers dual diagnosis care. Those participating in this track have individual sessions with their psychotherapist once a week as well as another individual session once a week with their substance abuse counselor, on top of regular group sessions.
There is no psychiatrist on staff at Chateau Recovery, though there is a medical director and a nursing team who make visits as necessary. The rest of the staff is primarily comprised of licensed therapists.
Since the length of stay at Chateau Recovery can be long, clients participate in group outings on the weekends including hiking excursions to take advantage of the natural beauty surrounding the facility. Residents can also expect a daily two-hour trip to a local gym and recreation center each weekday.
Aftercare is also provided through Chateau Recovery wherein clients can continue to attend group sessions and meet with a therapist on a weekly basis. The length of aftercare is determined by their initial stay at Chateau Recovery; thus, if they attended the program for 30 days, they receive 30 sessions of aftercare. Clients also receive assistance in finding a nearby sober living home if needed. For non-local clients, Chateau Recovery assists in finding an outpatient facility in their community.
Chateau Recovery’s services are defined largely by two standouts: the comfort of their converted facility and their method of allowing clients to develop individualized programs. Clients participating in the Chateau Recovery program can expect CBT-based care, dual diagnosis care and sustained aftercare. Furthermore, clients can count on their recovery experience occurring in an environment bursting with natural beauty that focuses on holistically healing the body, mind and spirit with access to alternative therapies.
