Treatment and Staff
Treatment at Charlotte Behavioral Healthcare begins with an online assessment followed by an in-office visit with a therapist to determine an appropriate level of care. Many clients enter the outpatient program at CBH as a step-down program after going through a residential treatment. In general, treatment consists of once-a-week group therapy sessions with the option of an additional individual therapy session. Medication management services are also available whenever necessary.
All programs at Charlotte Behavioral Healthcare are individualized and as a result there is no set amount of time that clients are required to stay in treatment. Evidence-based therapy methods with a focus on behavioral modification and CBT are mainstays. The facility also offers specialty groups that can be gender-specific or trauma based. Relapse prevention, anger management and coping skills are also emphasized throughout the programs. All group sessions are co-ed, and are kept fairly small with around 10 clients at a time and one therapist overseeing. Though treatment is not based on the 12 steps, the facility does encourage clients to participate in the community. Charlotte Behavioral Healthcare has a large staff of around 200, including psychiatrists, psychologists, LPCs, caseworkers, LCDCs and nurses.

In addition, this facility offers crisis stabilization, adolescent counseling services and family support. Those recommended for assessments from the court system or who need treatment for a DUI can also be treated at Charlotte Behavioral Healthcare.
