Central Maine Counseling Key 3 West Review
Central Maine Counseling Key 3 West is an outpatient facility with two locations in Biddeford and Lewiston Maine. The organization offers substance abuse treatment using CBT, pyschoeducational and holistic approaches. There is an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) available, as well as standard outpatient treatment for adult men and women and adolescents who are 12 and older.
Treatment and Staff
Central Maine Counseling provides comprehensive behavioral health and substance abuse treatment, and includes programs for clients with co-occurring disorders. The initial assessment determines which program would best suit each client and an individualized treatment plan is implemented. Those in IOP can expect to attend group or individual therapy sessions up to three times a week for a total of nine hours, though that can vary depending on the client. Clients check in with their therapist periodically to assess their progress, and if there is an agreement that the client is moving through the program at a pace they are both comfortable with, there can be a step down to fewer hours at the facility. The group therapy sessions are co-ed and are usually fairly small in size with one therapist per group. There are day and evening schedules available and sometimes special or off hours can be arranged between the therapist and client.
The staff consists of LCSWs and LPCs, who specialize in DBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and EMDR. For clients who come to treatment with an existing co-occurring disorder there are medication management services offered. Other group or individual therapy topics may cover anger management, identifying triggers, relaxation techniques, relapse prevention and parenting skills. And even though the program is not based on the 12-steps, the staff does encourage their clients to seek out additional support groups if needed, like AA, NA or Celebrate Recovery.
Extras
There are family therapy and couples counseling services available. For clients who complete their program, there is a once a week aftercare group offered, which lasts for about an hour.
