Centered Living of Arizona Review

Centered Living of Arizona is a Scottsdale based program that offers men and women transitional housing during the initial stages of recovery. Centered Living, which was once known as Scottsdale Sober House, incorporates the 12 steps while providing a structured environment that promotes living a life free of drugs and alcohol while pursuing long term goals.

Accommodations and Amenities

There are three upscale homes that are designated for Centered Living clients. They are the Starfire House, Scottsdale Sober Ranch, and Casita. Each of the homes range in size from 4,000 square feet to about 6000 square feet and sit on over two acres of land. The campuses include a horse ranch or overlook a golf course, depending on where the client resides.

Resident are either in private or semi-private bedrooms, and the price of the stay is affected by that distinction. All of the homes include state of the art appliances throughout, Wifi, a living room with cable TV and premium bedding. The residences are conveniently located close to transportation and employment opportunities. There are also pools and laundry facilities in each location. Food is prepared on-site by the residents. Some food is provided, though it is mainly up to the residents to get themselves what they’d like to eat.

Rules and Regulations

The minimum requirement clients must stay in the program is 90 days, and within that time they must attend daily AA, NA or Celebrate Recovery meetings, get a job within a couple of weeks, get a sponsor and submit to random UA screenings. During the first 30 days there is a strict 9 pm curfew that clients have to abide by and after that, upon the manager’s approval, there may be overnight passes granted.

Centered Living of Arizona has restrictions in terms of what the clients can watch on TV, and there is no tolerance for any sort of sexual activity in the facility. Additionally, if the client fails a drug screening or doesn’t adhere to the curfew without communication with the house manager, her or she is discharged immediately. There are also daily bed checks at 9 am, and random bedroom searches. Residents can expect a revolving list of house chores that need to be completed in a timely manner. House managers are either on site or available 24 hours a day.

There is a weekly AA meeting on site that is mandatory for clients to attend, and an additional four meetings are required as well. A workshop known as Back to Basics is also a requirement, and completion of the 12 steps during the stay is expected.

Extras

Equine therapy is included during the stay, as well as referrals and assistance with placement in an outpatient program is necessary.

In Summary

Centered Living of Arizona relies on accountability and providing a safe place for clients as they begin to experience life in recovery. This sober living offers a nice place to live and a solid foundation while being surrounded by like minded individuals.
