The Basics

With locations in NYC, Long Island and a serene retreat in the Berkshire Mountains of Western Massachusetts, the Center for Motivation and Change provides treatment to adults struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. In addition to its residential treatment plans, clients can also attend individualized outpatient treatment or a structured Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).

Treatment and Staff

Before beginning treatment, all clients go through an initial assessment to help staff members develop individualized treatment plans. For those looking for aftercare when transitioning out of CMC Berkshires or another residential facility, the IOP consists of a minimum three days a week of therapy, meeting for three hours at a time. Individualized treatment programs that include a customized schedule of therapy are also an option.

While each plan may vary somewhat, all include individual and group therapy rooted in evidence-based practices, such as CBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). The program also includes 12-step participation and dual diagnosis support with medication management as necessary. Group topics include grief and loss counseling, art therapy and relapse prevention.

The staff at CMC consists of CADCs, case managers, physicians and additional Master’s-level clinicians.

Extras

Holistic treatment options include art and music therapy. Clients also have access to yoga, mindfulness training and fitness training, to name a few.

In Summary

The Center for Motivation and Change’s outpatient locations provide a range of programming for adults in various stages of recovery. All programs use evidence-based practices, 12-step support and an array of recreational activities to ensure a balanced transition into sobriety. For those in the NYC area seeking flexible outpatient treatment services, the CMC outpatient programs are a great choice.

  1. Please don’t waste your money. These guys just want your money. They’ll happily take your money but they don’t care about outcomes. Their “method” works for 5 minutes after you stop paying them.
