Center for Integrated Family and Health Services Review
Situated in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles, Center for Integrated Family and Health Services provides behavioral and medical health services in three locations. The Sober Solutions program at the Covina headquarters offers an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) as well as a standard outpatient program for those battling substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. CIFHS was founded over a decade ago and its current Executive Director, William L. Nigh has a background in mental illness prevention and intervention in vulnerable populations.
Treatment and Staff
After an assessment, clients are placed in either the IOP or standard outpatient program. Clients in the IOP usually stay in treatment for six months attending group therapy three to four times each week and individual therapy as needed. Clients in the standard outpatient program attend group therapy twice a week and usually complete treatment in three months. Groups have a maximum of twelve participants and utilize CBT, Motivational Interviewing and the Seeking Safety curriculum.
Sober Solutions uses a 12-step framework and clients enrolled in standard outpatient are required to attend two outside peer support groups each week, such as Celebrate Recovery, Smart Recovery or AA/NA. Clients in the IOP also attend peer-support meetings in the community and work with their counselors to reach a consensus on an appropriate number of weekly meetings.
The treatment team at CIFHS includes psychologists, psychiatrists, MSNs, LMFTs and Certified Addictions Treatment Counselors (CATCs) and is equipped to treat dual-diagnosis.
Extras
CIFHS also offers adolescent substance abuse counseling services adapted from the Seeking Safety model. Other services include physical exams and preventative screenings, anger management counseling, domestic violence intervention and parenting skills.
