Celebrate Freedom Review
Celebrate Freedom is a men’s sober living house located in Indianapolis, Indiana. The faith-based transitional home uses Christian principles as well as evidence-based recovery methods and the 12 steps to help clients gradually transition into living confidently on their own.
Accommodations and Amenities
Celebrate Freedom occupies a spacious mid-century brick home situated on a quiet residential street in the Lawrence section of Indianapolis. The house has 10 bedrooms, four bathrooms, a kitchen, a laundry room, a living room, a room with free-weights for exercise and a computer room with Internet access. There are three single-occupancy rooms and seven double-occupancy, all furnished with twin beds, nightstands and dressers. While a house phone, electricity, water and Wi-Fi are included in the monthly rent, residents are responsible for their own food, cleaning supplies and personal items. Residents have a large backyard area equipped with patio furniture and a barbecue for grilling.
For those needing public transportation, the house is a 15-minute walk to a bus stop.
Rules and Regulations
Potential clients must be sober at least 30 days to be eligible for admission to Celebrate Freedom. While the house encourages personal responsibility and a certain amount of autonomy, those in their first 30 days are on the buddy system and cannot leave the facility unattended. Curfew is at 10 pm Sunday through Thursday and 11 pm Friday and Saturday. After 30 days of residence, curfew times are an hour later.
Weekly drug and Breathalyzer tests are facilitated by the house manager. Residents are responsible for cleaning up after themselves in addition to performing chores assigned by the house manager.
In addition to spiritual counseling, RF uses peer-to-peer coaching to help residents through the challenges associated with addiction. Clients must also attend AA/NA or Celebrate Recovery meetings daily. Mandatory in-house meetings are held on Monday evenings and a required bible study is on Thursday evenings. There is a relapse prevention class twice a week, which is mandatory during the first 30 days. Residents are expected to be employed after their first 30 days or be enrolled in school or active community service work.
Extras
Individuals who are on probation or parole are eligible to participate in the RAMP (Residential Addiction Management Program), which is designed to meet the requirements of an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) while the client resides in a sober living facility.
