The Cedars-Sinai Mental Health Center of Los Angeles, California is an evidence-based, dual diagnosis outpatient treatment facility that offers individualized programming for adults. Clients participate in group and individual therapy that includes gender-specific care. Additionally, medication management and aftercare planning are included within each person’s program.
Treatment and Staff
Every incoming client has a face-to-face assessment with a team member, who then puts together a comprehensive, individualized plan. Clients are referred a number of different ways, including being recommended by an outside agency, or from a friend or family member. Substance abuse, eating disorders and an array of mental health issues are taken into account when designing a program, and placement into a group and individual counseling cycle depends on what the most suitable and effective treatment would be.
CBT, DBT, Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) and psychodynamic therapy approaches are commonly implemented during both group and individual sessions. There is also a women’s only process group that meets weekly on an ongoing basis. This group addresses healthy boundaries, self-esteem and stress management using mindfulness based techniques.
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is offered for clients who are stabilized from opioids through Vivitrol. Emergency medications like Naltrexone are also provided if necessary. Though treatment through this facility is mainly therapy based, clients are encouraged to find a 12-step support community in addition to their program.
Staff of the Mental Health Center at Cedars includes Master’s-level psychologists, LPCs, LCSWs, LMFTs and psychiatrists.
Referrals to inpatient and residential treatment facilities is available, along with sober living homes and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP).
Regardless of what each client is struggling with, the multidisciplinary team of specialists at Cedars-Sinai Mental Health Center are able to put together an effective treatment plan that address each person’s specific needs. They recognize that there is no one-size-fits-all solution to addiction, and if the treatment process reveals the client is in need of more intensive services, they are able to assist with that transition process to ensure the safety and comfort of each individual.
