Located in Guntersville, a small city in northern Alabama, Cedar Lodge operates as part of the Mountain Lakes Behavioral Healthcare network. For over 30 years, it has provided residential treatment services for substance abuse. Cedar Lodge is certified by the Alabama Department of Public Health.

Accommodations and Food

Cedar Lodge accommodates 16 men and 12 women, who are segregated in separate wings that branch out from the building’s central area. The middle section includes common rooms,  a living room, a dining room and a small office occupied by a mental health worker.

Residents are paired in gender-specific rooms that include twin-sized beds, cubby units, armoires and desks furnished with lamps and chairs. Each wing has a large dorm-style bathroom. A laundromat is provided on the premises.

Residents are served three hot meals per day, and are provided with a snack tray during the evening. The cook prepares an array of different cuisines, mainly Asian, Mexican and Italian dishes.

Treatment and Staff

Cedar Lodge offers a high-intensity short-term residential program that ranges from two to three weeks. Clients must have 72 hours of continuous sobriety to be admitted. Detox services are not provided but local referrals are made.

Cedar Lodge combines evidence-based treatment, the Living in Balance curriculum and the 12 steps. Residents are provided with individualized treatment plans and weekly treatment consists of individual therapy, group therapy and voluntary attendance at 12-step meetings. Group topics include processing, stress management, negative emotions and relapse prevention. Dual diagnosis support is provided during therapies. On-site AA/NA and Celebrate Recovery meetings are facilitated by local volunteers.

The cost of admission is $300 and can be broken into two payments. Although Cedar Lodge does not refuse anyone due to inability to pay, the program’s completion certificate will not be given to the resident until the balance is paid in full. For residents who provide proof of income, treatment costs vary from $0 to $180 per day, and they are eligible for a sliding fee scale. Without proof of income, cost varies from $60 to $180 per day.

Cedar Lodge employs three CADCs, two of them Bachelor’s-level and the other Master’s-level. The staff-to-client ratio is one-to-nine.

The rehab also offers a six-month Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) program that meets three times a week, for three hours at a time, and includes a mix of group and individual therapy. Residential clients are encouraged to enroll in IOP as their aftercare option, if needed.

Cedar Lodge aims to help the entire family recover from substance abuse by providing family and couples counseling services. A weekly GED preparation class is taught on the premises for residents who want to get their high school degree.

Cedar Lodge offers life skills training and preventive services for children and adults. Children participate in workshops designed to develop self-esteem and respect for others. Adult workshops include parenting classes, stress management and substance abuse awareness.

In Summary

Cedar Lodge works hard to provide substance abuse services to financially-challenged clients in Alabama. For those seeking comprehensive services in a short period of time, this rehab will suit their needs.

  1. Now my daughter is killing herself with a needle, I can’t handle no more, jail Is no place for a young girl or boy in this shape it want help them, thank you

  2. Holly N Jackson on

My boyfriend was admitted into Cedar Lodge today from jail and now some few hours later we’re having to travel back to get him after they kicked him out and made him leave walking. Not only that they are keeping the $300 admission fee. Sounds like they need new staff that are more careful with words and more compassionate. I wouldn’t recommend anyone here!

  3. Audrey christa on

I need a bed for my daughter she is incarcerated in Madison county jail she was sentence to rehab

  4. I was wondering if my husband And I were admitted into your program, could we stay together? If you could please give me the regulations and help me decide what our options are. Please let me know. My number is: 256-605-6602

  5. I went into rehab thinking i would “fake it to make it”. But after the second day they helped me realize i had more than a drug problem. By them treating the underlying problems i went straight to the pink cloud. I felt better than i had felt before about myself. It only took me a few days to get off that pink cloud but i still felt good about myself. After 1 week i filed an extension for another week, i loved that place. I didn’t want to leave. Cedar lodge is the best place for SA, i believe it is the best place for people that don’t have a drug problem, i guarantee they would benefit from it greatly. I love u miss Sheila n Lasey, u too Shane. If nobody’s told you they love you today,i do!!!
My clean date is February28 and I’m still clean!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wasn’t just another statistic, I’m loving it!!!!! Thank yall so much! !!!

  6. This place is questionable….
They hire a girl to work and handle 15+ guys and 10+ girls drug addicts and alcoholics trying to better themselves sure. But 1 girl handling everyone making 8.66 an hour. They have a high turn-over because of this. Sometimes their “Clients” become a bit on the wild acting side and they have No Security guard!!

They also, by court requirement, offer a church trip a few times a week. The issue is that they have the “Girl” drive the Guys, and the church van drives the girls. This is a problem waiting to happen. It’s only a matter of time before they have a major incident.

It is my suggestion that they
    Add a security Guard
Increase the pay for someone handling 25+ live in “Clients” most with criminal backgrounds.
The management ignores, and blames their low pay help for any problems.
The girls and guys are supposed to be separated but at night they sneak to each others rooms and so forth. notes are passed in hallways and outside, for late night rendezvous.

And problems on site are hidden from the general public as they don’t want anything brought up that would hinder their income for the business.
