Located just 20 minutes outside of Spokane, Washington, Cascade Heights Recovery provides residential treatment for men and women struggling with chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders. Cascade was established in 2013 and is one of the newer treatment facilities in the area. It’s set among beautiful mountains and rivers and boasts a range of holistic treatment options.
Accommodations and Food
The comfortably furnished facility has designated areas for meetings, meditation and recreation; including exercise equipment for client’s use. Cascade can accommodate up to 12 residents at a time, sharing bedrooms with one other client of the same gender. Meals are prepared on-site in the cafeteria and are served communally. Menu options vary though the staff puts equal emphasis on health and taste.
Treatment and Staff
After an initial evaluation, clients begin a three-phase, 90-day inpatient program, which includes a medically-monitored detox, if needed. Each phase allows residents to gradually gain more freedoms, like free time and unsupervised outings. Treatment sessions are tailored to suit the evolving needs of the clients through each phase. Adjusting to sober life is the initial goal, while learning life skills and independence become the focus in the final weeks.
Nursing and medical staff are available around the clock, with dual diagnosis support for co-occurring issues like depression, anxiety, bi-polar and eating disorders.
After detox, each phase of treatment lasts 30 days and clients generally stay for the full duration. Cascade uses a variety of evidence-based practices along with group counseling twice a day. Residents are separated into smaller, gender-specific groups whenever possible. Process groups are available to facilitate discussions and address concerns. Other groups focus on health boundaries, relationships, life skills and relapse prevention. Family group is held every Friday morning and individual counseling occurs weekly, where clients meet with their primary counselor to discuss more personal issues.
Residents are introduced to the 12 steps through daily on-site meetings, lectures and educational groups. Mentoring and life coaching sessions are also used to help them plan for life after treatment. Additionally, group recreation and adventure therapy are organized weekly, designed to promote bonding and vitality. All residents receive gym memberships and are encouraged to use them, though it is not required. Supervised transportation to and from all off-site activities is provided.
Those that complete treatment have the option of participating in an aftercare program. This consists of up to one year of assistance with housing, employment and vocational training, weekly check-ins with a counselor and the option to participate in affiliated outpatient programs.
Cascade Heights Recovery provides supportive and structured long-term treatment. With a continuum of care available exceeding even the 90-day program, clients are ensured support through further phases of their recovery. Overall, Cascade Heights Recovery is a worthy choice for those in Washington seeking thorough treatment.
