Casa RecoveryCasa Recovery Review

Krishna Jessick, who has over 20 years experience in the drug and alcohol recovery field, founded Casa Recovery in San Juan Capistrano, California. Offering residential, outpatient, detox, extended care and holistic treatment for adults, Casa Recovery provides substance abuse and addiction treatment in a beautiful beachside town.

Accommodations and Food

Each Casa location is small, with just 20 beds available in the primary care unit. Gender-specific houses are located throughout the San Juan Capistrano area, with each providing the same standard of care and amenities. Clients sleep in queen-size beds, two to a room and share a bathroom with that person. The homes are beautifully appointed, with plenty of room to store personal belongings. Communal areas are comfortable, with some ocean-views and patios from which to take in the light breezes of the beachside community.

Fridges remain stocked with every kind of food clients request. Staff does the shopping, fulfilling dietary requests, as well as nutritional needs as determined by the staff dietician. Breakfast and lunch are prepared individually at the homes, while dinner is often scheduled with multiple houses and collaborative. Each client is tasked with preparing dinner with the assistance of the resident adviser on a rotating roster and this is served family style.

Treatment and Staff

Upon intake, clients participate in a comprehensive assessment performed by licensed therapist and medical staff. At this time, the need for medical detox is determined, and provided if necessary. Individualized treatment plans are offered at varying lengths. The average stay is 90 days, but 30 and 60-day options are also available. Random urinalysis is performed on all clients.

Clients are transported to and from the Casa Recovery center located in central San Juan Capistrano. Treatment is provided from 9 am to 3:30 pm Mondays to Fridays, and consists of individual and group therapy. Five to seven hours of individual counseling is provided each week, between therapy and sessions with the treatment team. Evenings are spent at off-site 12-step meetings and work on the Casa Recovery workbook.

Groups focus on process therapy, relapse prevention, testimonial groups, anger management and goal setting. Clients are also transported to three gym sessions each week. A Casa exclusive nutritional (NTR) formula is given to clients to help restore brain function through amino acids. Dual diagnosis support is offered for clients where the co-occurring disorders is a component of their substance abuse. Medication management is available in these cases. For those that require more intense mental health support, referrals can be made.

The intensive outpatient program (IOP) is for clients completing the residential program and for those that require treatment but not at the intensity of inpatient. Clients are required to attend eight hours of group and individual therapy, as well as attend and provide proof of attendance at 12-step meetings. The outpatient program is for clients that need even more flexibility in scheduling and are confident in their ability to maintain sobriety with minimal support. All outpatient programs include the modalities of the inpatient program.

A team of licensed clinicians, including Master’s-level therapists, case managers, clinical supervisors, counselors and a variety of additional support staff who administer holistic modalities, supervises clients.

Extras

As part of the holistic treatment approach, clients are also offered art therapy, yoga, weekly acupuncture and massage, guided meditation, spiritual renewal, bible study and energy healing. Saturday is fun day, with beach activities including whale-watching and deep-sea diving offered. Other recreational activities are also planned and provide clients recreational activities. Clients are provided the option to attend church on Sundays, shop, and have family visitation if desired.

Casa Recovery offers clients transition to gender-specific sober living facilities. Sobriety must be maintained, and require at least 30 days of sustained recovery before admission.

In Summary

Casa Recovery provides an excellent and broad range of therapies for clients battling substance abuse. The variety of treatment options, combined with a holistic approach and longer stay means clients are able to build a strong foundation for recovery. This can be continued through the supportive outpatient programs. The price is all-inclusive, and fees are reduced for each subsequent 30-day period, making this an amazing choice for recovery in Orange County.
