Casa de las AmigasCasa Treatment Center Review

Casa Treatment Center is an old school inpatient program for women that first opened its doors in 1967. They are located on a quiet, tree-lined street in the Rose Bowl city of Pasadena, California, and offer five levels of care for those struggling with addiction to drugs and alcohol.

Accommodations and Food

The residential treatment facility, known as Stanley House, is a two-story cottage with a full kitchen, living area and dining room that can accommodate up to 14 women. All bedrooms are painted in soft, feminine pastels and each can hold up to seven women. Beds are twin-sized, and each room also has a dresser and a shared closet. Another residence, Riley House, is a newly remodeled, three-story, Spanish-style home that accommodates up to 18 women who join those residing in the Stanley House for counseling sessions, meetings, meals and other events.

After inpatient care, residents can move into one of Casa Treatment Center’s four sober living facilities that house up to 44 women.

Meals and snacks are provided to residential clients. Snacks are provided to all clients.

Treatment and Staff

While the facility provides a three-bed, subacute detox and clients must be off any mind-altering drugs for at least 24 hours before they can be admitted.

The residential portion of the program varies in length of stay from 30 to 90 days, depending on the client’s needs and is based on medical necessity.

Residents are required to attend Process Groups, Alcohol Education, Family Program, Life Skills, Trauma and Healing, Relationships, Relapse Prevention, fitness groups and creative expressions group (crafts and arts). They are also required to attend AA, NA, and CA, and CODA.

Casa Treatment Center also offers day or evening treatment for women ages 18 or older. The day program includes 30 hours of individual sessions and groups while the evening program requires one and a half hours at night.

Clients continue to receive weekly one-on-one case management during transitional care.

There are approximately 30 staff members at Casa. Staff members include a physician, MFT, psychiatric technician, on-call nurse and drug and alcohol counselors, case managers or technicians.

In Summary

Casa Treatment Center offers a basic approach backed by a good reputation in the field of recovery. They also benefit from a history of employing caring staff who are invested in the women who come through their doors.
