Casa Bella Review
Based out of the Venice Beach neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, Casa Bella is an expansive behavioral health network providing flexible and individualized treatment programs to women struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. The programs offered are all-encompassing with a full continuum of care available. In addition to its outpatient and sober living components, the organization also offers residential treatment for women ages 18 and up.
Accommodations and Food
The main Casa Bella house is a beautifully appointed cottage near the beach with a total of 13 beds for clients in luxurious shared and private rooms with queen and full-sized beds. Each room is tastefully appointed and includes wood floors, linens, dressers, bedside tables and shared closet space. The rest of the home includes grassy outdoor areas, a brick patio, therapy and yoga rooms and shared common areas with couches, cable TV and internet. Throughout their stay, residents are served three nutritious meals a day with the help of on-staff nutritionists and chefs.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning a program, all clients go through an intake and assessment process to help staff members determine their needs. While on-site detox services are not available, those in need can be referred to nearby programs as necessary. Once stabilized, residents attend full days of treatment which include individual and group therapy rooted in evidence-based practices including CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI), though the specific modalities may vary by practitioner.
Support for co-occurring disorders is provided along with medication management whenever necessary. Throughout their stay, clients are also expected to participate in 12-step groups as well and work the steps. Group topics cover a range of issues including life skills, nutritional counseling, trauma-informed care, rotating experiential therapies, trigger identification and relapse prevention.
The staff at Casa Bella consists of psychiatrists, psychologists, CADCs, LMFTs, case managers and additional Master’s-level counselors.
Extras
The above programs also use holistic therapies including yoga, meditation and mindfulness training to enhance clients’ treatment plans as well. As mentioned, the facility also provides treatment in other intensities including outpatient, sober living and recovery apartments (which are essentially 3/4 homes). Those who complete a program can work with case managers on discharge planning and aftercare programs as well.
