Carrollton Springs review

Carrollton Springs is a 45-bed psychiatric hospital located in Carrollton, Texas, a northern suburb of Dallas. Carrollton Springs offers detox and outpatient substance abuse treatment at its hospital location and outpatient services at an additional clinic, Changes, in Plano, Texas.

Carrollton Springs opened its doors in 2012, and outpatient treatment is offered at the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) levels of care. Clients in both its inpatient and outpatient programs have access to the Minirth program counseling, which includes Christian faith-based teachings from the Happiness Is a Choice workbook, developed by Dr. Frank Minirth.

Treatment and Staff

After an assessment, clients are placed in either the PHP or IOP. PHP clients meet for group therapy Monday through Friday from 9 am to 3 pm or from 3:30 to 8:30pm. PHP treatment plans are usually two to four weeks. IOP clients meet for group therapy Monday through Friday from 8:15 am to 12 pm or 4:30 to 8:30 pm. IOP treatment plans usually last six to eight weeks. Individual therapy is scheduled as-needed. Most PHP clients step down to the IOP.

Carrollton Springs is licensed for mental health and substance abuse treatment and can treat clients with severe co-occurring disorders. The treatment team includes psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, LCDCs and LPCs.

Groups use CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and other evidence-based practices to help clients identify triggers and develop coping skills. There are also dedicated groups to address mental health diagnoses. Therapists incorporate Hazelden’s co-occurring disorders treatment curriculum into group therapy.

Clients are encouraged to attend peer support meetings outside of program hours, and the Carrollton hospital location hosts an on-site 12-step meeting held Sundays through Fridays at 6 pm.

Extras

Carrollton Springs hosts a weekly family group on Saturdays at 12:30 pm at its hospital location, and family therapy is available for loved ones who wish to participate in treatment.

For aftercare, clients and their primary therapist create a plan which may include referrals to individual therapy and on-going peer support meetings.

In Summary

Carrollton Springs provides PHP and IOP programs that include treatment for co-occurring disorders and encourage family participation. It also offers faith-based counseling and encourages 12-step participation, making it a strong option for those who wish to explore spiritual approaches to recovery alongside evidence-based treatment.
