Carrollton Springs is a 45-bed psychiatric hospital located in Carrollton, Texas, a northern suburb of Dallas. Carrollton Springs provides a five to 10 day medically-supervised detox with extensive treatment group offerings and comprehensive discharge planning.
Carrollton Springs also offers outpatient treatment on-site and at an additional location in Plano, Texas. Clients in both its inpatient and outpatient programs have access to the Minirth program counseling, which includes Christian faith-based teachings from the Happiness Is a Choice workbook, developed by Dr. Frank Minirth.
Accommodations and Food
The newly-built facility features a colorful, bright, modern décor. The hospital has ample grounds for sports, walks and relaxing. Clients have roommates, and rooms have desks, dressers and closets for each resident as well as a private bathroom for the room.
Clients take their meals in Carrollton Springs’ cafeteria, which serves standard American fare. Clients can watch TV in the facility’s lounges, and free laundry facilities are available throughout their stay.
Treatment and Staff
Carrollton Springs is licensed for mental health and substance abuse treatment and can treat clients with severe co-occurring disorders. The treatment team includes psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, LCDCs and LPCs.
As soon as they’re able, clients are encouraged to attend daily group therapy and psychoeducation classes. Groups use CBT and other evidence-based practices to help clients identify triggers and develop coping skills. The team also incorporates Hazelden‘s co-occurring disorders treatment curriculum into group therapy.
Clients can also participate in daily movement classes and are encouraged to attend an on-site 12-step meeting held Sundays through Fridays at 6 pm.
Throughout their stay, residents have meetings with a case manager to discuss their next steps in treatment, such as outpatient programs or sober living. Before they’re discharged, residents participate in a ‘wrap-up’ group to reflect on their treatment thus far and set intentions for the future.
Extras
Many detox clients choose to continue treatment in Carrollton Springs’ outpatient programs, which offer treatment at the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) levels of care.
Carrollton Springs hosts a weekly family group on Saturdays at 12:30 pm and residents’ families are invited for lunch each Saturday and Sunday.
