Carolina Center for Recovery Review
Based out of Matthews, North Carolina, a southeastern suburb of Charlotte, Carolina Center for Recovery is an outpatient-based behavioral health facility providing flexible treatment services for clients struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. All care plans are individualized and are available in different tiers including Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and standard outpatient care.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning therapy, all participants go through an intake and assessment process to help the staff determine their needs and develop their care plan. While on-site detox and medical stabilization services are not available, those in need can get referrals whenever necessary. While all the programs include the same care methods, the specific treatment methods used may vary. PHP is the most intensive option with full days of treatment during which clients are housed in a nearby sober living facility. Beyond that, IOP meets three times a week, three hours per session for a total of 12 to 18 sessions. Outpatient is the most flexible, meeting only once a week for an hour.
Treatment includes both group and individual therapy with evidence-based practices including CBT and DBT. Groups cover a range of issues including psychoeducation, life skills, healthy communication, trigger identification, relapse prevention and emotional processing. Medical and psychiatric oversight is also provided in these programs, with medication management and dual diagnosis support available. Additionally, those in need of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) in the form of Vivitrol or Naltrexone can have those medicines prescribed as well. Throughout the program, all participants are also expected to work a 12-step program.
The staff at Carolina Center for Recovery consists of doctors, psychiatrists, recovery coaches, LSCWs, CADCs, case managers and additional Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
Other services include transportation help to and from work and sober living homes whenever applicable. Beyond the therapy mentioned above, PHP also includes exercise and life classes as well as job assistance. Those who complete primary care can also attend regular alumni meetings and aftercare sessions as necessary.
