Treatment and Staff
Before treatment begins, incoming clients participate in a 90-minute assessment to determine their level of need. After individual treatment plans are created, clients can begin an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Those who require detox or a higher level of care can be referred to other facilities that can accommodate those needs. A team of doctors, registered nurses and licensed counselors assess all clients and offer dual diagnosis support for those with co-occurring disorders. Medication can also be prescribed as needed.
The IOP runs Monday to Thursday from 5:30 pm to 8 pm for five weeks. Clients participate in group therapy during these hours as well as individual therapy for an hour each week. Groups focus on educating clients on the effects and consequences of substance abuse, sharing personal experiences and discussing relapse prevention. Life skills are also taught and clients are encouraged to find work or further education. An introduction to the 12 steps is also provided, with attendance at meetings encouraged but not required.
There’s also a continuing care program for clients who complete the IOP. It is suggested that all clients continue into this stage, as it maintains a level of support and structure recommended in the early stages of recovery. It consists of one group session a week offered on Monday and Tuesday from 5:30 pm to 7 pm, as well as on Thursday mornings. This program lasts 16 weeks, with relapse prevention being the primary focus.
