Located about 30 minute drive north of Detroit, Michigan in the small city of Fraser, CARE of Southeastern Michigan is a non-profit organization that provides an array of community services including case management, court referrals and advocacy, as well as resources for clients with alcohol and substance use disorders. Founded in 1977, CARE seeks to strengthen families and communities through the support of underserved families and individuals. The organization primarily provides assessments and referrals for individuals in need of substance use treatment.

Treatment and Staff

CARE offers resources and education for low-income individuals and families struggling with alcohol and substance use disorders as well as for persons with mental health conditions. Since 1977, the facility has assisted over 20,000 individuals, helping them to navigate to effective treatment programs. CARE’s team provides clinical assessments to determine whether or not an individual needs treatment services, and if so which program best meets their unique needs.

In addition to referrals, CARE provides a number of resources for the community including early intervention services, recovery coaching, counseling, case management and assessments. Peer recovery coaches help clients maintain sobriety through continued support and counsel. Coaches also help clients utilize resources like detox programs, local support groups and treatment. CARE also offers life and professional skills training, and assistance with driver’s licenses. Clinicians are available for court-ordered assessments.

CARE employs a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, counselors, case managers, recovery coaches and community leaders. While the facility makes referrals for clients with mental health issues, the team itself cannot provide medication management.

Extras

CARE also provides employment assistance programs like professional development, coaching and training from the Department of Transportation.
