Care Clinic Review
Care Clinic provides outpatient care for substance abuse and mental health issues for those age 16 and above in the Chicago suburbs. The organization was founded in 1981 and offers both group and individual therapy as well as DUI evaluations in Aurora, Naperville and Yorkville. Treatment is rooted in the 12 steps and Care Clinic also treats those struggling with eating disorders, gambling and other process addictions.
Treatment and Staff
The outpatient program for substance abuse at all three locations is tailored to fit the needs of each individual. Instead of having a fixed schedule, clients can make their own. Before starting the program, clients undergo an initial evaluation. While detox and highly structured programs such as Intensive Outpatient (IOP) are not available, referrals can be made when necessary.
Group therapy is offered twice a week, on Monday and Thursday from 5 pm to 8 pm. Clients can add as many individual sessions as necessary to complement group therapy. One-on-one sessions can be scheduled anytime Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 9 pm, depending on counselors’ availability. Marriage and family therapy are also available. Group topics include an introduction to the 12 steps, anger management, coping skills, relapse prevention and communication skills. Group sessions are usually between two to five clients at a time, keeping things small and intimate.
In addition to 12-step support, evidence-based therapies such as CBT are used. The steps are discussed in detail during groups and clients are encouraged to attend AA/NA meetings during their free time. Attendance at meetings is not required.
The staff at Care Clinic is made of of several LADCs. Stanley F. Rocush, the founder and executive director, is a Master’s-level therapist with over 30 years of experience dealing with addiction.
Extras
Outpatient treatment is available for eating disorders, gambling, compulsive shopping, smoking and compulsive Internet usage. The program also offers DUI evaluations for Illinois courts.
In Summary
Care Clinic offers low intensity outpatient treatment for a myriad of addiction issues. Though not a comprehensive treatment facility, it s could be a good fit for those looking only for sobriety maintenance through an outpatient program or for those who need basic guidance through process addictions.
