Rawlins WyomingCarbon County Counseling Center Review

Founded in 1969, Carbon County Counseling Center offers outpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment to children, adolescents, adults and seniors. It’s currently the only CARF-accredited outpatient facility in Carbon County. CCCC has two facilities in the state of Wyoming, one in Rawlins and the other in Saratoga. Only the Rawlins location offers structured Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) as well as standard outpatient services to adults aged 18 and over. Treatment in both locations consists of individual and group therapy sessions using evidence-based modalities.

Treatment and Staff

Upon beginning treatment at CCCC, clients must undergo an initial assessment. After this counselors can properly determine each individual’s needs and clients are either placed in a standard outpatient track or IOP.  For those in need of intensive inpatient services, referrals can be made to local rehabilitation facilities. There is also a psychologist on-site who provides referrals to area psychiatrists for medication management when needed.

Treatment includes two structured programs that vary in length depending on the client. The IOP is offered three times a week for three-hour sessions. Groups meet on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. There’s also standard outpatient which meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 to 10 am. Groups are both discussion based and educational and all are co-ed. Topics include anger management, behavioral issues, codependency, coping skills, communication skills, addiction as disease, grief and relapse prevention. Individual therapy sessions are also offered as a supplement to group therapy for adults in treatment. Individual sessions are usually held once a month for about an hour. These sessions aim to provide clients with an intimate setting to openly discuss more personal issues. They also serve as check-ins to monitor progress and to set goals for treatment.

There are 17 full-time employees including LADCs, LPCs, psychologists and five contract staff. Treatment modalities include CBT and DBT.

Extras

Individual therapy is the only form of treatment available to clients of all ages. Each individual works with counselors to determine an individualized treatment plan which determines the frequency of individual sessions. These typically focus on mental health though substance abuse support is offered when applicable.

In Summary

Carbon County Counseling Center has structured programs led by experienced and credentialed staff. The driving idea behind all of its programs is that mental health and substance abuse go hand-in-hand. While those in need of more intensive treatment may need to look elsewhere for care, many should find what they need through the general outpatient services available at Carbon County Counseling Center.
