Canopy Cove Outpatient Review
Established in 1990, Canopy Cove is a luxury eating disorder treatment facility located about 25 miles northeast of downtown Tallahassee, Florida. Canopy Cove specializes in providing residential treatment for women struggling with Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorders and all related Eating Disorders. There are also outpatient programs open to men, women and teens of both genders. The programs employ a non-denominational Christian faith-based approach and incorporate evidence-based therapeutic methods and holistic healing.
Treatment and Staff
Clients at Canopy Cove receive an initial evaluation that determines whether the facility would be a good fit. Canopy Cove’s outpatient programs are open to those who have completed primary care—at Canopy Cove or elsewhere—or those who begin treatment at this level.
The most intensive outpatient offering is a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), which is available for adults and adolescents to a combined total of eight males or females for a minimum of 30 days. The PHP offers 10 consecutive sessions (about eight hours) per day Mondays through Fridays, and eight consecutive sessions on weekends. The IOP, which is also offered to adults and adolescents, steps down to three to five days per week of treatment, three hours per day. The outpatient level typically involves three to five hours of care per week, with access to individual session with a dietician. Treatment incorporates both traditional styles of treatment, like CBT, DBT, Acceptance-Commitment Therapy (ACT) and EMDR.
Staff facilitates breakfast, lunch and snacks every day for those in PHP. IOP clients get dinner and a snack. Clients are provided with one grocery trip per week with our dietary staff and ongoing support for independent grocery shopping. There are also opportunities to experience real-life challenges in a therapeutic environment, like restaurant outings and cooking experiences with our dietary staff.
The treatment team at Canopy Cove consists of Master’s-level therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, nursing staff, nutritionists, Certified Eating Disorders Specialist (CEDS) and trauma specialists.
Extras
Holistic options, like yoga, massage, hypnotherapy and art therapy, are available. There is also a special emphasis on equine therapy, with on-site stables and daily opportunities to interact with the horses.
Apartments are available for a small fee to those who require housing during outpatient treatment. Each apartment is tastefully decorated and complete with all necessary amenities such as linens, towels, kitchen utensils, plates and glasses. Laundry facilities are also available and conveniently located on the premises
